Dr. Birman is a 2005 graduate from Ferris State University’s School of Pharmacy, but is not new to Portage Pharmacy. He has spent the last 10 years honing his skills in the compounding lab. He is well-skilled in the fine art of compounding. Chris takes great pride and care into customizing dosage forms to fit our patients’ needs. He specializes in veterinary compounding and creating oral dosage forms for children that cannot swallow tablets or capsules. His expertise in compounding is not only an asset to our pharmacies, but also to Southwest Michigan. By working closely with both patients and physicians, and with careful monitoring, his goal is to help his patients enjoy a better quality of life.

Amanda is nearing completion of a holistic health practioner program where she has received training in holistic health, herbal medicine, diet and weight management and nutrition. She has been a nationally certified pharmacy technician for 11 years.

Amanda aids in consulting with Dr. Patel on subjects such as: adrenal fatigue, proper use of nutraceuticals, diet and weight management and all natural skin care.

Mr. Curtis received his Baccalaurete in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin. After a distinguished career as a formulation expert with The Upjohn Company (now Pfizer, Inc.), he started the first compounding laboratory in Southwest Michigan. His role as advisor to several Hospice agencies draws on many years of experience in pain and symptom management.

Larry Curtis also pioneered our Foreign Travel & Immunization Clinic. Larry has the rare privilege of being able to administer yellow fever immunizations. He has a highly trained staff available to consult with travelers and provide the recommended immunizations required or suggested by the Center for Disease Control. Dr. Miller earned his Baccalaureate in pharmacy from Ferris State University and his Masters and Ph.D. in pharmaceutics from the University of Michigan. He is an expert in transdermal drug delivery and sustained release dosage forms. Dr. Patel is a consultant pharmacist and graduate of Ferris State University School of Pharmacy. She has advanced training in women’s health and the proper use of bio-identical hormones for men and women of any age. Dr. Patel is uniquely qualified to work with prescribers to customize hormone therapies specific to each patient’s needs. In addition she is nearing a completion of a fellowship in ani-aging and functional medicine. Her genuine personality and vast knowledge make her one of the best resources in the business.
